Dunnet Head is the most northerly point of the Scottish and UK mainland. It's in the historical county of Caithness, around 13 miles west of Thurso and 15 miles east of John O'Groats. To get to Dunnet Head, you can drive or walk from Dunnet. It's around 10 minutes' drive up a winding single track road with views of the Pentland Firth and the surrounding area. Alternatively, you can walk to the peninsula in around 90 minutes. At Dunnet Head itself, you will find the Dunnet Head Lighthouse and a viewing platform where you can see birds nesting in the nearby cliffs. While there are no cafes or restaurants at Dunnet Head, the Northern Sands Hotel is in nearby Dunnet for drinks and meals.
