Macaroni Cheese Pie
The pastry-cased macaroni cheese pie is a relatively common delicacy in Scotland, but can be an unusual discovery for visitors.
It consists of a deep thin crust pie case, filled with macaroni pasta in a cheese sauce. The pie is usually topped with pastry or a further sprinkling of cheese.
Macaroni cheese pies are inexpensive and can be found in supermarkets and local bakeries for around 75p-£1.50 each. Some well-known brands include Bells and McIntosh.
To prepare the pie, you warm it in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees celsius. The pie will usually be ready to serve in 15 minutes.
